Edirne’de kuraklığın etkisiyle debisi düşen Meriç Nehri'nde, suların çekildiği bölgede tarihi nitelikte olduğu değerlendirilen bir tüfek bulundu. Nehirdeki su seviyesinin 46 metreküp/saniyeye kadar gerilemesiyle birlikte ortaya çıkan tüfeğin, geçmiş yıllara ait bir mavzer olabileceği bildirildi.

Tarihi Meriç Köprüsü üzerinden geçen vatandaşlar, nehir yatağında sıradışı bir cisim fark ederek durumu 112 Acil Çağrı Merkezi’ne bildirdi. İhbar üzerine hadise yerine sevk edilen polis ekipleri, tüfeği dikkatlice yerinden alarak incelemeye aldı.

Uzmanlar tarafından yapılan ilk değerlendirmede, tüfeğin eski bir mavzer olabileceği anlatım edilirken, kesin sonucun yapılacak detaylı analizlerin ardından netleşeceği belirtildi. Tüfek, incelenmek ve olası tarihi değeri belirlenmek üzere Kültür ve Turizm Bakanlığı’na bağlı Kültür Varlıkları ve Müzeler Müdürlüğü’ne teslim edildi.

Yetkililer, Meriç Nehri’nin debisindeki düşüşün bölgede sadece ekosistemi değil, aynı zamanda geçmişten kalan izlerin de gün yüzüne çıkmasına sebep olduğunu belirtti. Tüfekle ilgili inceleme ise halen sürüyor.
